Need MORE Blog Traffic

Building Traffic

with Blogs

If you are looking for a way to drive traffic to your website, look to your blog. Blogs are an excellent way to communicate with your target market and invite them to visit your site. Here are some tips you can use to blog for traffic.

Post on your blog regularly; at least 3 times a week. By updating your blog on a regular basis, you are giving your readers a reason to keep referring back to your blog. If you are providing timely and informative posts, your readers will see you as an expert in your field.

Customers who read your blog on a regular basis will come to have a beneficial relationship with you, since they will begin to feel that they can trust what you say. Many readers will come to you for answers and advice.

By installing a feed burner onto your blog, you will make it easier to keep in contact with your customers. Your readers will be able to subscribe to your blog and choose to have new posts delivered right to their email or computer's homepage. There are several services to choose from, and you can get a basic service for free. Setting up the service is easy; you simply install a small piece of HTML code onto your blog.

You could also choose to add a list of blogs that your readers might be interested in on your blog page. Each time you link a different blog to your page, ask that blogger to link back to you as well. This will help you boost traffic since you will be reaching a larger audience. Remember, though, that it only makes sense to link to blogs that your target customer would be interested in.

A fast and simple way to use your blog to get more traffic to your website is by linking back to it from your blog each time you post. You can entice blog readers to check out your website by posting a short excerpt of new articles appearing on your website to your blog along with an invitation to read more and a link to your website and the complete article.

When older articles that have been on your website for a while become especially useful to your customers again, you should place links to them on your blog. An article about entertaining kids during the summer with costumes can be brought to your blog readers' attention again when Halloween is getting close.

Adding links to opt-in pages is another option.

If you want more traffic to your website (and who doesn't?) you should be using free article submission as one of your promotional techniques. And you should be submitting at Zogol.com, one of the few article directories that allows anchor text inks in the body of the article, not just the resource box.

Alcohol Consumption: Drinking with ME/CFS

Alcohol Consumption
How Badly Can It Affect ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Sufferers? Part I

(Copyright, Claire Williams, 2003-2007. All Rights Reserved.
The wonders of alcohol. )

The achilles heel for many people. The 'norm' for some others. And probably poison if you have ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ...

I remember when I first got Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS /CFIDS) back in 1995, I thought that having a drink or two wouldn't affect me any differently to my pre-PVFS days. Unfortunately I didn't realize what I was doing to myself.

I didn't know how badly alcohol consumption can affect the severity of Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS /CFIDS) ...

Nowadays I don't touch alcohol at all, and haven't done so for a few years now. I'd rather see at least a few hours in the day instead of being bedridden for weeks on end because of one alcoholic drink!

Because when you have ME/CFS /CFIDS , you might as well be pouring arsenic down your throat...
------SIDE NOTE-------

Okay - so that comparison might be a little 'dramatic', but you get what I mean right?
-----SIDE NOTE-------

You see when you have ME/CFS /CFIDS , you are likely to develop **alcohol intolerance**...
The smallest alcoholic drink - even a tiny bit of alcohol consumption, can send you into a relapse - as I learned the hard way many years ago.

Having an alcoholic drink now and again was enough to tip the severity of my ME/CFS over the edge and put me in bed indefinitely.

When a **normal** person gets drunk they may feel ill for a day or so after which, they're back to 'normal', bouncing back and raring to go. But when a person with ME/CFS gets drunk - or even has just one drink, they're likely to feel like 'death warmed up' for what seems like an eternity!!!

Personally, I don't actually like alcohol much so I don't miss it. But even if I did, I have realized that alcohol consumption no longer makes me feel the way it used to before I had ME/CFS ...
Drinking alcohol now feels like I'm feeding myself poison, and my body reacts accordingly - i.e. a flare, or worse, a relapse - and I suffer the consequences for a long, long time afterwards.
Unfortunately, most of us ME/CFS sufferers are just not strong enough to resist the poisons of alcohol.

So for most of us, it's unfortunately a case of accepting it, or getting much, much worse.
As Dr Shepherd writes in his book 'Living With M.E.', many people who might have been able to drink alcohol before the onset of their illness, often find themselves getting very unwell even after small amounts of alcohol consumption.

So if you have ME/CFS, it is likely that you may have developed an intolerance to alcohol.

One Patient's Story - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

If you have CFS, this story will sound earily familiar ...

One Patient's Story

By Angela Generoso, Staff Writer, MedicineNet.com
Reviewed by William Shiel, MD, FACP, FACR

At 21 years of age, Sarah Jones* felt like she was falling apart.

Once an energetic cheerleader and member of a professional dance team, full of energy and life, Jones gradually found herself bedridden and unable to work. As time went on she became more confused as to why she was feeling constantly tired.

Then one day a friend of hers, who was a nurse, asked if she had ever heard of chronic fatigue syndrome.

"My doctor back then didn't believe in chronic fatigue syndrome," Jones says. "It was still up in the air; people didn't believe it existed. I think it's better now, but back then it wasn't."

Jones found herself undergoing a series of tests, and when they were finished, she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, a disease which inhibits people from performing everyday activities due to severe tiredness. Although the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is still unknown, doctors can diagnose it by ruling out other possible causes of fatigue.

"There was a sense of relief because finally there was a reason for all I was experiencing," Jones says. "People would constantly ask what was wrong with me, and I felt like I was going crazy. I never guessed it could be one particular illness that could be causing it all."

Jones started on a long journey of medical tests in an effort to get better. She went through years of disappointment, having MRIs taken, going through blood tests and a thyroid test, and was put on a series of different medications and herbs. She put time, money and effort into seeing naturalists, visited mainstream doctors, and went through a series of allergy injections in an effort to find an answer.

For about three years she was on a strict allergy diet where she had to exclude milk, sugar, corn and wheat from her diet, and also had to remove all dust particles from her house.

"My diet just became more and more limited," Jones says. "I was basically eating meat and salad, wheat free pasta and wheat-free, milk free cookies. My diet was very, very plain."
Although she followed her diet strictly, she still felt tired. Then in 1998, five years after her initial diagnosis with chronic fatigue syndrome, the dizziness started.

"I have constant dizziness," Jones says. "When I look at things, everything is always moving."
Jones sometimes has dizzy spells that are worse than others where she feels off balance and has to grab onto something. Her symptoms are sporadic in that she often can go a few days without feeling severely dizzy, but then experiences several dizzy spells in a short amount of time.

"With chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms come and go," Jones says. "I also have muscle aches, headaches, sore throats and TMJ to name a few," she said. "I sleep with a night guard to help prevent my jaw from locking while I sleep, although it still happens from time to time. My teeth will ache and I even went a whole year unable to chew on one side of my mouth."

Another symptom of chronic fatigue syndrome that plagues Jones is sleep disturbance. She often wakes up during the night for no reason on an average of 15 to 20 times and can remain awake for hours at a time. She underwent a sleep study to find out the cause, but was unable to come up with an answer. It still takes her at least an hour to fall asleep at night.

Jones also experiences problems with her joints and has elbow pain as well as pain in her thumb joints and knee joints. Her list of symptoms goes on to include temporary memory loss , depression, anxiety, irritability, acne, PMS, and lightheadedness. Yet, above all, her strongest and most constant symptoms are her fatigue and dizziness.

"The fatigue I experience isn't just ‘being tired,' she explains. "Every fiber of my being feels sick from fatigue."

Since Jones was too fatigued to work, she had to move back with her parents while going through the fight for social security and the wait for housing. It wasn't until 2000, at age 28, that she was able to finally live on her own for the first time since she was 21.
"That was a great feeling, to have my own place," Jones says.

Jones says one of the hardest parts of her condition was the amount of people who didn't believe she was actually sick.

"There were so many skeptics," she says. "I was not only fighting to feel better, I was constantly having to justify being sick to others because so many people didn't understand. Others view people with chronic fatigue syndrome as unmotivated and lazy."

Jones grew tired of putting hope into new doctors and new techniques to only be disappointed. After numerous attempts with different medications and diets, she decided that taking no medication and small, well-balanced foods was the best choice for her. Her relationship with God, an understanding husband and a daily nap is how she gets through the day.

"It helped me to just accept what it is and live with it," Jones says. "I try to live each day to the fullest and not get so caught up in being sick. It's important for me not to dwell on it."

Today Jones is happily married with two children, which is something that she never thought would be possible with her condition. She says her strong Christian faith is what has made the most difference in her life.

"I really try not to think about the illness itself and how much it has changed my life or that I'll never be better," Jones says. "Some days I'm not able to do as much and some days I'm able to do more. There is life with chronic fatigue syndrome. It may be different and more difficult than originally planned, but it still can be a full, beautiful life."

*Name has been changed.

Editor's Note: Although no cure for chronic fatigue syndrome exists today there is still hope for future research and development. Researchers have been working to find a cure since it was officially accepted as a disease in 1988.

A Rudimentary Comparison of CVS and Walgreens Deals This Week:

Went to CVS last night and spent $28.38 on household items that were on sale or B1G1 deals. I also used my $5.00 ECB + $3.00/$15.00 and saved $11.00 in coupons.

Then I checked out Walgreens ads. And, I'm returning the following from CVS because I found better deals at Walgreens:
(FYI: The Bath & Body Works products are on eBay for bid right now.)

CVS:

1. Lysol Wipes - 2/$5.00 + had $1.00 coupon. $4.00
2. Band-Aid brand - Should have been 20% off, but that doesn't show up on my receipt. $3.29
3. Loreal Vive Shampoo/Creamrinse - B1G1 free $4.99

NOTE: I did get a $3.00 ECB which I get to keep because I'm keeping the items.

Replacing with the following from Walgreens:

1. Lysol Wipes Twin Pack - $3.49 + $1.00 coupon $2.49
2. Walgreens Brand of Band-Aids - B1G1 free 2/$2.79
3. VO5 Shampoo or Conditioner - $0.79 x 2 (I know this isn't nearly the same as Vive)

CVS Total of Returned Items: $12.28; Walgreens Replacement Cost: $6.86

In all fairness to CVS, I did keep the other 4 items I purchased because they were pretty good deals and Walgreens didn't have any deals for the same or similar items this week.

I do love shopping at CVS, but found better deals at Walgreens this week.

Top 10 Grocery and Drug Store Coupon Sites

Update: 6-24-08 2:58pm:

I used manufacture and store coupons at Walgreens today and purchased household items such as foil, t.p., paper towels, etc. Here's the breakdown:

Walgreens Coupon Savings: $16.47
Walgreens Advertised Savings: $18.64
Manufacturer Coupon Savings: $ 6.50

Total Savings: $41.61
Total Bill: $77.21

It is rare that I buy anything at the grocery or drug store without a coupon. Below is my Top 10 Grocery and Drug Store Coupon Sites:

1. The Coupon Mom
2. Penny Pincher Gazette
3. Eversave Coupons
4. The Coupon Cabin
5. Judy's Book
6. Coupons
7. Walgreens (rebates too)
8. Retail Me Not Thank you Mary for this link.
9. The Coupon Finder
10. The Grocery Game (fee-based)

Don't forget about the Fuel Perks at Giant Eagle and Kroger. My recommendation is to stick with one or the other grocery store and buy nearly everything there. At Giant Eagle, we buy gift cards and do ALL of our other shopping with them. That way, we get fuel perks for the purchases at other stores. IE: Kohls, Joanns, etc.

6-24-08 5:33pm: We had $2.60 in Fuel Perks from Giant Eagle and filled up a full-size van for $20.00 today.

Since January, we have saved $571.00 on gas through Giant Eagle Fuel Perks.

POST A LINK TO YOUR FAVORITE COUPON SITE below.

Good luck and be sure to check back as I'll be updating this post often.

Lesson Learned ...

In an attempt to make this blog 3 columns, I downloaded a free blog template and lost ALL my links and widgets!

Lesson Learned -- Don't download a free blog template from an unknown/unreliable site! And, be sure to make a copy of your current template before downloading a new one.
